Zakti Ltd. opens first U.S. store.

Zakti Ltd., a trendy U.K.-based retailer of activewear for women, men and children, is expected to open its first U.S. location in the RiverTown Crossings Mall in Grandville! Titan Interiors will be there to make sure the RiverTown Crossings store launches in mid November with all the fit and finish that this debut deserves.

Based in London, Zakti Active is making a name for itself in fashion circles by selling athleisure wear that targets younger professionals and mothers who want a range of clothing for their “off-duty lifestyle.” The company has four stores in Chiswick, Islington, Reigate and Summertown in the United Kingdom, and three stores in Canada, including one in Waterloo, Ontario.

At the Grand Rapids location expected to open in mid November to catch the Christmas season, our crew is working diligently to give the space a truly polished look. One of our tradesman, Mike Driver, was measuring twice and cutting once this week as he carefully fitted together solid tongue-in-groove wood planks that will make a striking wall treatment in the 6,400-square-foot store.

Zatki Store ResizedAs a subcontractor to the JAG Building Group, Titan Interiors was responsible for installing metal studs, drywall and specialized wall treatments such as the tongue-in-groove planks.

Fletcher Gilbert, JAG superintendent in charge of the project, said “the Titan Interiors crew is made up of really skilled mechanics. Every one of them has taken great care in doing the job right. It’s refreshing to see that -- it’s almost unheard of nowadays.”

We are honored to be working on the launch of the first American store of Zakti, which takes its name from an ancient Sanskrit word for “positive energy, strength, power and potential,” according to the company’s website. Established last year, Zakti has a team of designers who fashion high-spec active wear for running, hiking, swimming, skiing, gym workouts, Yoga, and dance. Zakti was launched last year by Mark Neale, the founder and chief executive officer of Mountain Warehouse, which employs about 1,500 people at its more than 220 locations in the United Kingdom, Poland and Germany.

We wish them the best in their new venture!
